BOONE, N.C. — October 2026 — Freedom Farm Ministries has been designated as an approved firewood provider for Watauga County through North Carolina’s Energy Assistance Program, creating an opportunity to help local families stay warm while providing meaningful work for men recovering from addiction.
Through this initiative, men participating in Freedom Farm’s Christ-centered addiction recovery program will help cut, split, stack, and deliver firewood to qualifying households that depend on wood heat during the winter months.
Freedom Farm Ministries is currently the only approved wood delivery service in Watauga County participating in this program.

Serving Families While Rebuilding Lives
For Freedom Farm, this opportunity represents more than a firewood delivery service. It brings together two important parts of the ministry’s mission: helping men rebuild their lives through faith, responsibility, and meaningful work while serving neighbors in need.
Residents of Freedom Farm’s recovery program will participate in preparing and delivering firewood, gaining practical skills and valuable work experience while helping families throughout the community.
The ministry is working in partnership with Hospitality House in Boone, which can assist individuals and families with completing applications for North Carolina’s energy assistance benefits.

Community Donations Will Help Expand the Program
Freedom Farm Ministries is also welcoming donations to support the ongoing costs of providing firewood to families in need.
Contributions can help cover equipment and supplies such as trucks, log splitters, protective gloves, helmets, work clothing, and fuel for deliveries.
As Freedom Farm establishes a history of providing this service to low-income households, the ministry hopes to pursue grant funding that could help purchase additional equipment and expand its capacity to serve the community.
Those wishing to support the initiative can donate through the Freedom Farm Ministries website and designate their gift for “Firewood” so it can be directed toward this effort.
